Tamarack Triangle Student's Poem to be Published in the Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans
Robin Padua, who lives in our Tamarack Triangle neighborhood, is an 11-year-old student at Briggs Chaney Middle School. He is in 6th grade and recently wrote the following poem, "The Mess We Made" which won him a certificate and trophy at school. His teacher, Dr. Kellee Jenkins, submitted it to Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans, where it has been selected for publication in their 2025 volume. This annual anthology originated in 1989 in Asheboro, North Carolina and is a respected publisher of students' poems. In addition to his academic success, Robin excels in his favorite sport: basketball. The Tamarack Triangle is proud of our young scholar's achievement and we are happy to share it with the community!
The Mess We Made
by Robin Padua
Litter in the tree, litter over by the bay,
Litter in school, litter on the floor, litter everywhere we go.
It was not magically there people around the world do not care.
Fish and turtles green and gray swim in the mess we made.
We could fix it but it might be late days go by
More and more trash each day.
Disappointing I would say It just gets gray and gray.
Fish dying everyday they swim in the mess we made.
Birds breathing in the mess we made.
Foxes, Squirrels eating the mess we made.
How will we fix the mess we made?
