Compost Collection - at your house!

  • Hi Neighbors - we want to know if there is interest in having a compost collection service in the Tamarack Triangle community.

  • Compost Crew (compostcrew.com) requires 6-8 homes to participate to start a neighborhood collection. Recycling food scraps diverts valuable organic matter from landfills to compost facilities. In landfills, food waste is not given the chance to naturally decompose releasing methane, a greenhouse gas, that is 80 times more potent than CO (carbon monoxide). On the other hand, recycling organic matter into compost helps pulls carbon from the atmosphere through carbon sequestration. This helps contribute to a more sustainable environment.

  • Help by being a composting pioneer in our neighborhood.

  • Residential collection service starts at $32 per month. If you sign up for a year your home will get one month free! After signing up, your supplies will be dropped off at your home and your collection will begin the next week. Each year you will receive two bags of finished compost to apply to your garden or potted plants. See list below for items that can be composted:

If you are interested in participating please let us (Living-in-Place committee) know by replying to this e-mail or sending a message to TamarackTriangleCommunity@gmail.com.
